Earth & Easel - our creative story
Earth Moves is a grassroots community garden and wellbeing organisation based on the Wirral, using creativity, horticulture, and ecological practice to support mental health, community connection, and positive social change.
Since 2017, Earth Moves has developed a wide range of arts-based activities including community collaborative art, dance, drumming, storytelling, visual arts, performance, creative workshops, and cultural events. Art is not treated as something separate from the environment, but as part of a shared process of growing, learning, healing, and connecting with others.
Our organisation is well placed to deliver creative projects because its team brings together experience in arts facilitation, sculpture, ecotherapy, community engagement, horticulture, and wellbeing practice. Many of the people involved in Earth Moves are neurodiverse or have lived experience of mental health challenges, helping create accessible, inclusive, and trauma-aware spaces for participants.
Creativity sits at the heart of Earth Moves’ aims as a community garden. The organisation believes that working with nature and creative expression together can improve wellbeing, reduce isolation, and strengthen communities. Workshops often combine food growing, environmental learning, movement, and art to encourage people to reconnect with themselves, each other, and the land around them. Through this approach, Earth Moves creates spaces where ecology, creativity, and community can grow together.
