Earth Moves

The Brigid Roadside shrine created as an icon piece by Toc (Tony O'Connell). Situated for passers-by on the lane at the edge of the site as a spiritual welcome to Earth Moves.​

A wooden shrine frame, built by Antoinette Egan, with a symbolic protective roof and a shelf for offerings, is paired with a copper-leaf icon of Brigid on ancient slate. The slate suggests the ancientness of the land, Ireland and Wales, and the copper is like the copper of a circuit board that allows electrical flow. This is a suggestion of the flow of spiritual energy and magic. The icon stands for the Irish Goddess Brigid and for her Christianised re-arising as Saint Bride. ​

 

Around the shrine's foot, spring bulbs are planted to bloom each year at Imbolc as a living floral offering.

In this powerful Earth Moves artwork, Bridget stands as a guardian of the land, proud and rooted between worlds, carrying ancient memory into the future. She bridges cultures, histories, and spiritual paths — from pagan traditions of the Earth and sacred feminine wisdom to Christian symbolism of compassion and devotion.

Bridget rises as a symbol for all of us, inviting collective action to protect the Earth, honour diversity, and remember our sacred connection to nature and each other.
