The Boudicca Window (2022) was collaboratively created by artist Tony O’Connell with the Earth Moves Community

This work was imagined as a stained-glass tribute, a dedication to a saint and a lens for viewing the archetype of the heroic Queen. She is an icon of defiance, resistance and courage in the face of all-powerful enemies, and she is shown stepping on the face of a fallen Roman legionary. Her original portrait was based on Tilda Swinton, and she has been given a deliberately queer aesthetic.

The work illustrates the holiness of the land and is created on a recycled window frame.

This piece was almost entirely repainted recently and is now also sealed in clear resin to extend its lifespan.

Funded by the Arts Council Jubilee Fund.
